I enjoyed learning to Surf in Santa Teresa more than I ever expected, and I felt that I had really improved by then end of the trip. Funky Monkey’s was a comfortable and clean place to stay. We received great support from the trip leaders throughout. The Spanish lessons were hard work at times but the teacher was excellent and I intend to carry on having lessons when I return home. The extra activities were good, especially fishing because I caught a lovely big fish! Overall I loved the laid back atmosphere and the beaches of Costa Rica.

The Costa Rica trip was amazing, there probably isn’t a more perfect place to learn to surf. It was great to have two instructors to help me on different aspects of my surfing and I felt they helped improve my surfing alot. The Funky Monkey was a great place to stay and the staff were lovely. Learning Spanish was really worthwhile and our teacher Pia was really good. It was great to go snorkelling and I enjoyed the weather and gorgeous beaches of Costa Rica.

The surf tuition I received was hugely informative and very helpful- I really enjoyed learning to surf. We were well supported by our trip leaders, they organised everything seamlessly. With the extra activities and Spanish lessons were fantastic and helped make the Costa Rica trip loads of fun.

I have learned so much form this experience. Before coming I was expecting to be stoked all the time, so when I was having a hard time I got frustrated. But from these challenges I gained more wisdom about myself about travelling about living on my own, and life in general. And there was definite stoke getting those perfect waves, watching sunsets, doing yoga under palm trees with a cool breeze, speaking Spanish with my new friends and much more. I am taking a lot more away from this adventure than just stoke, I am taking away skills that will benefit me in my future.

This trip to Costa Rica has fuelled a desire to go travelling and to see and surf new places. The surf coaching has given me a confident grounding in the basics and has got me striving to perform better. The course is very well structured so you have plenty of free time. This has definitely been an experience of a lifetime. The beach lifestyle here is so tempting it is not long before the only thing you care about is whether the surf is pumping! It’s a totally relaxing place and I have loved every second of it.

I learnt a lot on this trip, not just about surfing but about myself too. I really feel like my surfing has improved enough that I will really be able to make the most of the surfing in Australia and New Zeland as I continue to travel and indeed back in good ol blighty! I’m aching to surf more now. It was pretty nice living in Santa Teresa, I felt like part of the super cool surf community. The activities we did complemented our surf instruction nicely, as did the yoga. I’d love to come back here.
